The cactus wren is the state bird of Arizona. Certainly not the most beautiful of birds but it has distinctive behaviors and song and a great deal of character. Even its song is not as cheerful and symphonic as some birds but it is familiar and recognizable to me and I enjoy their activities around the yard.
This bird was perched high on a flowering ocotillo, recognizable by its long, whip-like branches and brilliant orange-red flowers. The cactus wren builds its nest (where else?) in cactus and will often build several nests, only one of which is actually used. This may be a type of behavior that may divert predators to the wrong nest.
I enjoy painting birds, love to watch them and it was the sad, lonesome cry of a sparrow that I remember from my first trip to the southwest.
This painting measures 12x12 inches and is oil on board. It is already framed in a matte, bronze-gold frame of the best quality, ready to hang. Free shipping and your painting will be carefully packed and insured for safe arrival.

I carefully select the frames for my artwork based on the size, subject matter and the colors in the piece to be framed. The frames themselves are usually contemporary and of excellent quality. If a buyer decides they do not like the frame or would prefer a different color or style, it is their responsibility to take the artwork to a framer and have it changed to their liking.
Take a photo of the framed artwork, showing the damage and a photo of the packing material including the box. Email me with attached photos of the damage. I will refund my cost for the frame, provide you with the link to my frame supplier so you can verify the cost and I will refund the cost of the frame.
